This pair of cottages on Rectory Road are Grade II listed and date from the C15th. Originally one property - a three cell open hall house. The two bay hall retains blocked unglazed mullion windows at the front. The building is timber framed. The roof is now of slate with red brick chimneys. The parlour block to the left (Beith Cottage) has its lodged first floor structure exposed and the former end wall with unglazed window beneath the eaves of a half hipped roof. The open hall had a first floor and a chimney inserted in the C16th. The building was extended at both ends in the early C19th; the old roof structure was replaced and a conversion into a row of cottages was carried out.
Front View of Beith Cottage 2017 followed by an interior view showing the timber frame.
