The White Horse, Whepstead, is a 17th Century English country pub serving fresh, locally sourced food and drink in comfortable dining rooms. In addition, there is a spacious bar with an open fire, garden, parking and access to wonderful rural public footpaths.
Since April 2016, Lee and Hanna Saunders and their two boys Toby and Lucas have been running the pub. These are their ambitions for it:
"We would really like the pub to become somewhere that we can all meet up for any occasion. From a casual drink with friends, quick bite to eat after work or that special meal or party. We felt that the pub was a bit biased towards dining so with that in mind, we have reclaimed the bar for those that wish to come in just for a drink. The bar blackboard has now gone in favour of paper menus and a new 'at your table' ordering system. We have ordered some new bar furniture and hope it will make the bar somewhere you can sit, relax and have a drink.
We would also like to install a wooden children's play area in the garden. This will give the children something to do whilst out for a family meal or a summer drink. Although we have yet to receive planning approval, we hope it won't be a problem.
We are running a facebook promotion at the moment, that entitles anyone who "likes" our page to a free drink, so please have a look and take advantage of this offer. The facebook page will also contain up to date information on what's going on and any offers we are running.
We look forward to meeting everyone in the village and always welcome your thoughts, ideas and suggestions.
