Tuffields is an important timber framed house, in Tuffields Road. Listed grade II. Formerly a farmhouse. Circa 1500 with alterations of several periods. Two storeys , hall range and two cross wings.Timber frame and rendered, slate roof, 2 fine early C17th axial chimneys of red brick. Mainly sliding sash windows 1842. The right hand parlour wing C1500 has substantial close studding: in the parlour chamber an arch-headed doorway and traces of a painted frieze and other abstract decoration of late C16th or early C17th. The hall range built early or mid C16th probably replaced an earlier structure. The service wing C1500 extends forward to form a symetrical H plan c1600. Chimneys inserted C1600. A pair of crude oak figures and panelling c1600 found in a partition now fixed over the new parlour fireplace. A number of C16th ovolo-mullion windows. All roofs rebuilt 1842 (dated on cross wing).
